The Portland Cello Project is an 'indie cello orchestra' and the group ranges from 8-16 cellos. Their sound is deep and luscious, mellow and easy to listen to. Their LP just released in August and features both classical and contemporary songs on the cello. The song I have featured-- "Mother's Sick"-- was a collaboration with Horse Feathers and reminds me of a Weepies/Iron & Wine sort of sound, but with cello.
